JUST IN - Former BlackRock chairman and German Chancellor Merz is not resigning despite disastrous election results of his party (CDU) in today's state elections in Berlin and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

According to projections, the AfD emerged as the leading party in the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania election with 37 percent of the vote. In the Berlin House of Representatives election, Infratest dimap has the left radical party "Die Linke" in the lead with 24.5 percent, ahead of the previously ruling CDU.
